The goal of Group in this studio is to outline a forward-looking, sustainable vision for the Red Dot School. To set it on a path to financial stability, we focused the project on one question:今回のスタジオにおけるグループ の目標は、レッドドットスクールの前を向いた持続可能な構想を描くことだ。財政的な安定への道に乗せるため、私たちはこの計画を一つの問いに絞った。

The current state 現在地

Red Dot School has run residential design studios on Sagishima for the past several years. But its work has grown beyond the scope of being simply a school. It is evolving into something much more complex. An institution working to restore a depopulating island, its buildings, and its way of life. レッドドットスクールは、この数年、佐木島で住み込みの設計スタジオを運営してきた。しかしその活動は、単なる学校という枠を超えて広がってきた。いまや、はるかに複雑な何かへと進化しつつある。過疎の島と、その建物と、その暮らしのかたちを取り戻すために働く、一つの機関へと。

The pieces are real but young. The founders are unpaid; tuition is small, it is an "expensive hobby", the design practice and the material workshop are still to find their commercial legs. The island itself is aging and emptying. The question of how this becomes durable, free to the students who carry it forward, while also fulfilling a greater cause. どの部分も本物だが、まだ若い。創設者は無給で、授業料は少なく、いわば「高くつく道楽」だ。設計の実践も資材工房も、商いとしての足場をこれから見いださねばならない。島そのものは老い、空いていく。問われているのは、これをどう永続させ、受け継ぐ学生たちに無償で開き、なおかつより大きな使命を果たすかということである。
